Vasculogenic Impotence: A Review of 92 Cases With 54 Surgical Operations

Abstract

A 2-year study of 92 cases of impotence involved 69 arteriographic confer ences and 54 attempts at revascularization. The authors emphasize the importance of studying organic impotency by noninvasive methods. Leakage of arterial filling of the cavernous bodies is the main disorder (76%), and it can be well assessed by Doppler ultrasonography and arteriography. The syndrome of unstable erection as a result of venous insufficiency is reviewed and a new operative procedure is proposed to re-establish sustained erections. The various procedures to revascularize the penis and their results are discussed. In 60% of the 54 impotent men who underwent surgery, the results were good.
