About this journal

British Journalism Review is a forum for analysis and debate, to monitor the media, submit the best as well as the worst to scrutiny, and to raise the level of the dialogue. It is intended to appeal not only to journalists, whether in newspapers, radio and television, or online, but also to media academics and students and to everyone who cares about communication.

British Journalism Review's 30 Under Thirty - Winners

To celebrate its 30th birthday, the BJR created a competition to showcase the work of a new generation of journalists.

We invited writers under the age of 30 to submit a piece which addressed the following: 'We have never been better informed. Discuss.'

2019 Charles Wheeler Award

Organised by the British Journalism Review and the University of Westminster, the Charles Wheeler Award is presented annually to a journalist for outstanding contribution to broadcast journalism.

This year’s award was given to Katya Adler, BBC’s Europe Editor, and the presentation was followed by a keynote speech from James Naughtie.

30th Anniversary Collection

British Journalism Review was launched 30 years ago as “a forum of analysis and debate, essentially by journalists for journalists (in the first place); to monitor the media, submit the best as well as the worst to scrutiny, and to raise the level of dialogue.”

To celebrate the journal’s anniversary, former Editor and Chairman Bill Hagerty has put together a collection of some of its most significant articles, one from each issue in its history, written by some of the leading practitioners of the trade.
